Gamblers Release Roster

(Green Bay, WI) – The Green Bay Gamblers released their roster for the 2020-2021 season on Thursday.  Roster features 12 players who appeared in 15 or more games last season in the USHL. The players reported to Green Bay in mid-September.  In preparation for their season opener on Saturday, November 7, players will take part in daily practices and four to five exhibition games in October.

The roster is highlighted by forward Jesse Tucker and defenseman Mason Lohrei.  Tucker returns for his third full season in the USHL.  Tucker was tops on the team in goals (18), points (43) and second in assists (25). Lohrei, led all USHL Defenseman in assists (29) and was second in scoring (37).  The Verona, Wisconsin native, participated in the 2020 Bio Steel All-American Prospects Game and was named 2nd Team All-USHL in 2019-2020.

The Gamblers bolstered their forward group through the Cedar Rapids/Madison Dispersal Draft, selecting 2019-2020 USHL All Rookie Team member Ryan Kirwan. Kirwan tallied 25 goals and 16 assists last season for the Madison Capitols.

Players on the roster with USHL experience include forwards; Jake Schmaltz (13g & 19a), Kyler Grundy (11g & 21a), Camden Thiesing (12g & 16a), Alex Servagno (9g & 12a), Ryan Greene (3g & 2a), Trevor Smith (1g & 3a), Braiden Simmons-Fischer (1g & 2a), defensemen Michael Ferrandino (1g & 12a) a veteran of over 200 USHL games and Xan Gurney, who despite missing the entire season with a shoulder injury, has over 100 USHL games and two Clark Cups to his credit.

Players on the roster who have seen limited action in the USHL include forwards Matt DeBoer, Jackson Kunz, defensemen Jarod Crespo, Tyler DesRochers and Jake Ratzlaff.

Rookies include forwards Jackson Hallum, John Mittlestadt, local product Sawyer Scholl, Greg Spitznagel, Upper Peninsula native Brayden Stannard, Cam VanSickle, defensemen Dylan Abbott, Damian Carfagna and Cade Penney.

In between the pipes the Gamblers boast 2020 USHL Phase 2 1st round pick Matt Davis and 6th round pick Jed Baloitti.  Davis played last season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with Spruce Grove and Baliotti attended the Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts.

The USHL released the 2020-2021 regular season schedule on Tuesday.  The Gamblers open the season at home versus the Muskegon Lumberjacks on November 7.  For a complete schedule visit the Gamblers website (www.gamblershockey.com )
