Gamblers Fall to Cedar Rapids 3-1
GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders spoiled the Green Bay Gamblers’ home opener Tuesday night, earning a 3-1 victory at the Resch Center.
Green Bay struck first at 10:44 of the opening period when Liam Cotter scored, assisted by Nate Knutson and Gavin Conboy.
Cedar Rapids answered with three straight goals. Ruben Westerling and David Bosco scored in the first period before Jack Willmert added the eventual game-winner in the second.
The Gamblers pushed back in the third period, but RoughRiders goaltender Ethan Phillips stopped 32 of 33 Green Bay shots to preserve the victory. Gamblers goaltender Joey Slavick made 29 saves for Green Bay.
The game also featured a second-period fight between Quinn Bourne and Sullivan Miller, with both players receiving fighting majors and 10-minute misconducts.
Green Bay falls to 1-3-0 on the young season.
The Gamblers hit the road for the next two weekends with trips to Sioux City and Fargo before returning home to the Resch Center on Friday, October 23rd.
