The Green Bay Gamblers will play an away game against the Madison Capitols following Christmas, and a home-away series against the Chicago Steel. Green Bay will face the Madison Capitols on Wednesday, December 28 at the Resch Center, and the Chicago Steel Friday, December 30 in Chicago and a New Years Eve match to follow at the Resch.
This will be the sixth matchup the Gamblers will face the Capitols, while the fifth time the team hits the ice with the Steel. The Capitols hold a record of 7-16-0-1 and are in the 8th spot in the USHL Eastern conference with 15 points. On the opposite end, the Steel hold a record of 18-5-1-1 and are in the first spot in the USHL Eastern conference with 38 points. Playing both the top and the bottom of the conference, this series of matchups are sure to make an impact in where the Gamblers sit.
The Gamblers hold a 13-8-1-1 record and are currently third in the USHL Eastern Conference with 28 points. Some players to watch for include Carter Rose and Barrett Hall. Gambler first year, Carter Rose, lands on the list coming off a successful weekend series. The defenseman secured two points in Friday’s shutout win against Dubuque, leading the team in assists. The Clarkson University commit sits with 3 points this season, one of which was a goal in the previous series the Gamblers hit the ice with the Capitols securing a Gambler win. Another Gambler to watch out for in this series is forward Barrett Hall. Coming off a game winning shot during Saturday’s battle against Cedar Rapids, giving the Gamblers that goal needed to get the W. The Seattle Kraken round 6 draft pick, sits in the seventh spot in points on the team, with 13 points. One of those points being a goal the last time the team hit the ice with Chicago. Both Rose and Hall have points on the Capitols and the Steel, if they keep this up they will be a tough pair to beat during this holiday series.
The Madison Capitols have a 7-16-0-1 record and are eighth in the USHL Eastern conference with 15 points. A player to keep your eye on for Wednesday’s match is returning Capitol Nathan Lewis. Last season with Madison, the forward ended with 14 points as a rookie. Though this season, the Massachusetts commit has already surpassed that, currently sitting in the teams 4th spot in points with 18. Lewis is on the rise climbing the ladder in points for his team. The good news for Gambler fans, he has not acquired any points in the recent game or in the recent game facing the Gamblers on December, 9.
The Chicago Steel have a 18-5-1-1 record and sit in the top spot in the USHL Eastern conference with 38 points. A player to keep an eye on for this weekend’s matchup is USHL rookie, Mack Celebrini. With 30 points in a short 19 games, Celebrini sits in the third spot in points in the league. The forward came to Chicago from Shattuck St. Mary’s 18U Prep, where he finished leading the team with 117 points. Coming off a strong couple weeks, the Boston College commit has grabbed the title of USHL forward of the week and will be a strong competitor for this weekend matchup.
