Matt Davis turned aside 24 shots and Jesse Tucker and Ryan Kirwan each chipped in with a goal and an assist to lead the Gamblers to a 5-0 win over the Waterloo Black Hawks on Sunday at the Resch Center. Green Bay sits in 3rd place in the USHL Eastern Division with a mark of 26-14-3.
Green Bay notched the eventual game-winner in the opening minute (0:32) of the game when Tucker knocked home a rebound past Waterloo goaltender Jack Williams, who made 37-saves in a losing effort.
Damien Carfagna (1:57) and Jake Schmaltz on the power play (13:34) increased the Gamblers lead to 3-0 after two periods.
Green Bay killed off 2-minutes of a 5-on-3 advantage in the 3rd period.
Kirwan (14:34) and Matt Deboer (17:02) rounded out the scoring with goals in the final minutes of regulation.
The shutout was Davis’s 3rd of the season. Overall, Davis is 18-8-1 on the 2020-21 campaign.
Green Bay hits the round next weekend with three games in Youngstown. The team then heads to Team USA the following weekend, before returning home to face Dubuque on April 14.
