Gamblers Grab A Point In An Shootout Loss

The Green Bay Gamblers fell to the Chicago Steel 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday at the Resch Center. The Gamblers sit at 3-1-1 on the 2020-21 campaign.

The Gamblers jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 11:29 mark of the 1st period, as the captain Jesse Tucker tallied his first of the season.

Cam Thiesing tallied his team-high third goal of the season at the 5:22 mark of the 2nd period to tie the game at 2-2.

Green Bay again erased a one-goal deficit in the third, on Ryan Greene’s 2nd of the season at the 2:03 mark.

Chicago had a two-man advantage late in the game, but the Gamblers who finished 6/7 on the penalty kill kept the score tied.  Chicago entered the game operating at 60% on the power play.

Green Bay also had an opportunity with the man-advantage in the final 2-minutes of regulation but could not get the puck past Steel netminder Nick Haas, who finished the game with 34 saves.

After a scoreless overtime session, the game headed to a shootout.  After stopping Steel forward Mackie Samoskevich with a big glove save, the next two Chicago forwards, Matt Coronato and Sean Farrell beat Gamblers goaltender Matt Davis, who finished the game with 26 saves.  Hass stopped both Ryan Kirwan and Alex Servagno.

The two teams meet again on Wednesday at the Resch Center.
