The Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) announced the hiring of Tony DeHart to the organization where he assumes duties as assistant coach effective immediately.
DeHart, 36, is a native of Ballwin, Mo., and joins the Gamblers after most recently coaching for the Carshield AAA program in St. Louis.
He played youth/minor hockey in the St. Louis AAA Blues organization. As a defenseman he spent the 2006-2011 hockey seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the London Knights and Oshawa Generals. DeHart was selected by the New York Islanders in the fifth round, 125th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
After a pro career spanning more than four seasons mostly in the ECHL and another year in Italy, he returned to his native St. Louis to coach and mentor area players.
“Tony is a welcome addition to our hockey club’s coaching staff,” Gamblers Head Coach and General Manager Pat McCadden said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and top work ethic to our organization. We’re excited to have him in Green Bay.”
