GAMBLERS SWEEP THE WEEKEND

Green Bay is now back in sole possession of second place after a weekend sweep of Western Conference foes.  The Gamblers shut down Des Moines 5-1 on Friday and took care of Waterloo 4-1 on Saturday in front of a ruckus crowd.

Green Bay again fell behind early on Friday when Des Moines scored on a power play at 9:58.  After trailing 1-0 heading into the second period the Gamblers would rattle off five unanswered goals to get the win. Danylov started the run just 90 seconds into the period on an assist from Buesgens. Libor Nemec would net his 22nd of the season just one minute later and open the flood gates.  Julian Lutz and Danylov would each score to extend the lead for the Gamblers In second. Gamblers captain Mikey DeAngelo would put it away with an empty net goal in the third sealing the 5-1 victory.  Goaltender Gavin Moffat was lights out stopping 27 of 28 shots on his way to earing the number one star.

The Gamblers momentum from Friday night carried over to Saturday, with Green Bay forward Chalie Russel getting the Gamblers up 1-0 early in the first.  Waterloo, would answer late in the first to tie it at one heading into the second, but it was Green Bay from there.  Goals from Galluci, Nemec and an empty net goal for Lutz gave the Gamblers the 4-1 vistory.  Goaltender Moffat was on top of his game again stopping 34 of the 35 shots that he faced.  Moffatt was recognized as the USHL Goalie of the Week for his efforts.
