The Green Bay Gamblers have added forward Julian Lutz to the team’s roster. Lutz was the Arizona Coyotes 2nd round pick (43rd overall) in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The Weingarten, Germany native spent the last two seasons playing for EHC Red Bull Munchin (Munich), which plays in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), the highest level of play in professional German ice hockey.
“Julian Lutz is a world class player and person,” Gamblers Head Coach and General Manager Michael Leone said. “He is a great addition to our group, and we are proud to have Julian in Green Bay, where he can continue his development as a top prospect in the Arizona Coyotes organization.”
Lutz recently attended Coyotes rookie camp, participating in the Rookie Face-Off Challenge (Las Vegas, NV), appearing in three showcase games there. He also played for Arizona in NHL exhibition action before being assigned to Green Bay, where he will spend the 2023-24 season. Lutz is not currently under any professional contract, making him eligible to play in the USHL.
Internationally, Lutz has represented his native Germany at the U16, U17, U18 and U20 age levels, most recently playing in the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship in Halifax. As a 2004-born player, he is eligible to compete again for Germany in the 2024 World Junior Championship, being held in Gothenburg, Sweden Dec. 26, 2023- Jan. 5, 2024.
