Gamblers Weekend Preview (11/4) & (11/5)

The Green Bay Gamblers have two away games this weekend, facing the Chicago Steel on Friday and the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Saturday. This will be the third time playing Chicago, with one win and one loss this season. Last weekend, Chicago beat the Gamblers in a 7-1 loss. It’s also the third time facing the RoughRiders this season, also with one win and one loss. In their last matchup, the Gamblers beat Cedar Rapids in a 2-1 overtime win at the Resch Center.

The Gamblers have a 5-4-1 record and are currently fourth in the USHL Eastern Conference with 11 points. Some players to watch for include Jayson Shaugabay and Mikey DeAngelo. Shaugabay has had a hot start in his first full season with Gamblers. The forward sits at second on the team with 8 points. The University of Minnesota-Duluth commit has landed a B rating on the NHLCS preliminary list. Scoring points in every weekend of play so far, look for him to continue that trend this weekend. DeAngelo is another player named to the NHLCS preliminary list. He’s been graded out as a C-rated skater on the list. DeAngelo is at eight on the team with 4 points, while in the fifth spot with the Gamblers with three assists. The Arizona State commit helped assist on two goals in the last meeting against Cedar Rapids, so look for him to continue his good play against the team this weekend.

The Chicago Steel have a 7-4 record and are currently second in the USHL Eastern Conference with 14 points. One player to watch for is Mack Celebrini. This is Celebrini’s first year with Chicago Steel, and he sits third in the USHL with 14 points on 7 goals and 7 assists. The Boston University commit scored 3 of the 7 goals along with 1 assist in Saturday’s game. The 16-year-old is sure to be one to keep an eye on as the season continues.

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have a 4-4-2 record and are currently fifth in the USHL Eastern Conference with 10 points. One player to watch for is Ryan Walsh. This is Walsh’s first year with the RoughRiders. So far, he’s been one of the top scoring options for Cedar Rapids. With 8 points, he sits at the second on the team, thanks to his balanced effort of 3 goals and 5 assists. In his last game against the Gamblers, he had a goal and assist, so he could be a threat to the Gamblers offensively again.
