WEEKEND PREVIEW / March 25-27

The Green Bay Gamblers will play the Muskegon Lumberjacks in a pair of away games on Friday, March 25, and Saturday, March 26, followed by a matinee game with Team USA on Sunday, March 27. These will be the seventh and eighth meetings with Muskegon, and the Gamblers are currently 2-5 against the Lumberjacks. The teams last played each other January 29 at the Resch Center, where Green Bay beat Muskegon 5-4.

The Gamblers have a 21-26-2-1 record and are currently seventh in the USHL Eastern Conference with 45 points. Some players to watch for include Alex Servagno and Brody Lamb.

Servagno has been one of the most productive players for the Gamblers in the past month. The assistant captain is now on a seven-week streak of scoring points. During this time, he’s scored 11 points on four goals and seven assists, including a two-goal game last Sunday.

Lamb is another player who put together a solid weekend of hockey. The New York Rangers draftee gave the Gamblers two assists this past Sunday, now giving him a balanced offensive effort of 31 points on 15 goals and 16 assists. This also makes Lamb the third-best active goal-scorer on the team. The Minnesota commit has also given Muskegon trouble in past games, scoring six points on four goals and two assists.

With Lamb assisting Servagno on both of his scores last weekend, expect both forwards to show their talents and chemistry against Muskegon.

The Lumberjacks have a 27-17-3-3 record and are currently third in the USHL Eastern Conference with 60 points. Some players to watch for include Quinn Hutson and Joey Larson.

Hutson has not only been the best forward for Muskegon, but one of the best in the USHL. The Boston University commit has scored 63 points, seventh best in the league, and his 28 goals are fifth best in the USHL. Although the month of March has included a scoring drought for Hutson, this past weekend he rebounded with a two-goal game in a win against Dubuque.

However, Larson has been the hottest player for Muskegon. Since January 28, the Northern Michigan commit has gone only three games without scoring points. This hot streak has allowed Larson to be a top twenty points-scorer in the USHL, scoring 56 points on 27 goals and 29 assists. His 27 goals make him the seventh best goal-scorer in the league. To add, in his last two games against Green Bay, he’s scored five points on two goals and three assists.

With both players being top ten scorers in the USHL, watch for them to make an impact this weekend.

Puck drop is at 6:05 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 3:05 PM on Sunday. You watch these contests live at www.hockeytv.com.
