The Green Bay Gamblers (21-26-2-1) dropped their lone home game this weekend against the Madison Capitols (26-25-2) in an 8-3 loss Sunday at the Resch Center.
The first period was a quiet affair with neither team scoring. The Capitols would change this with a flurry of goals in the second period. After an Alex Servagno (12) power play goal, the score was 4-1 with one period to play. Madison would once again have a quick strike of goals in the third. The Gamblers tried mounting a comeback with goals from Will Staring (4) and Servagno (13) again but would fall short in an 8-3 loss.
Alex Servagno scored two goals and Will Staring scored once. Brody Lamb (16) and Ryan Greene (24) assisted on both of Servagno’s goals while Peter Kramer (4) assisted on Staring’s score. In net, goalie Rastislav Elias had a game time of 44:12, saving 25 of 31 shots, allowing six goals. He would be replaced by Aaron Randazzo, who had a game time of 15:48, saving 9 of 11 shots, allowing two goals.
Green Bay will play the Muskegon Lumberjacks (27-17-3-3) in Muskegon Friday, March 25, at Mercy Health Arena.
Madison will play the Dubuque Fighting Saints (31-15-2-3) in Dubuque Friday, March 15, at Mystique Ice Center.
