The Green Bay Gamblers came out on fire Monday at the Resch Center scoring four goals in the opening period, en route to a 7-4 win over the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Jackson Kunz tallied a pair of goals, Ryan Kirwan, notched his 20th of the season and Victor Mancini also found the back of the net in the opening period. Cameron Lund notched his first career USHL goal to give the Gamblers a 5-2 lead after two periods. Mason Lohrei and Ryan Greene tallied goals in the third period. Jackson Hallum tallied three assists.
With his assist, Lohrei tied Dan Calzada (1998-2001) for 2nd all-time in career assists (68) for a Gamblers defenseman. Lohrei owns the Gamblers record for points in a season (57) by a Gamblers defenseman.
Aaron Randazzo got the win in between the pipes turning aside 27 shots. Green Bay totaled 36 shots on goal.
With the win, Green Bay kept their hopes alive to surpass Muskegon and move into 2nd place in the USHL Eastern Division. For that to happen, Green Bay has to win both games in Dubuque this weekend and Muskegon has to register no more than 1-point in their final three games (@Dubuque, @Chicago, @Chicago). The Clark Cup Playoffs format has the #1 and #2 seeds in each division hosting all games in the opening round best of 3 series. Stayed tuned to the Gamblers webpage (www.gamblershockey.com ) and Facebook page for playoff updates.
Green Bay finished the 2020-21 campaign with a dominant 17-6-4 record at the Resch Center. Overall, Green Bay sits in 3rd place in the USHL Eastern Division with a mark of 30-15-4.
