The Green Bay Gamblers have acquired forward Geno Carcone from the Des Moines Buccaneers in exchange for forward Tobias Pitka.
Carcone was the eighth overall selection by Des Moines in the 2022 USHL Futures (Phase I) Draft. The Woodstock, Georgia native spent the last three seasons in the Bishop Kearney Selects program out of Rochester, N.Y., where he tallied more than 260 points at the 14, 15 and 16-under levels. Named to the USA Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in the summer of 2022, Carcone played three USHL games in the 2022-23 regular season with Des Moines, registering an assist.
“We are pleased to welcome Geno to Green Bay,” said Head Coach/General Manager Michael Leone. “He is one of the top ’06-born forwards in his American peer group, and plays with a blend of skill and energy that makes us a deeper team now and in the future.”
Pitka, who played five USHL games last season with the Gamblers out of South Kent Selects Academy, is currently with the Victoria Grizzlies of the BCHL. “We thank Tobias for his contributions to our club and wish him well with his new organization,” Leone said.
