Weekend Preview / March 11-13

The Green Bay Gamblers will play the Youngstown Phantoms in a trio of games from Friday, March 11, through Sunday, March 13. Youngstown will host all three games. These will be the sixth and seventh meetings between the teams, and the Gamblers are currently 2-3 against the Phantoms. The teams last played each other on February 12 at the Resch Center, where Youngstown beat the Gamblers 5-2.

The Gamblers have a 20-22-2-1 record and are currently seventh in the USHL Eastern Conference with 43 points. Some players to watch for include Kent Anderson and Ryan Greene.

Anderson has picked up his offensive pace over the last month, scoring points in three straight weeks of play. The rookie defenseman saw one of his best weekends of the season against Chicago last weekend, scoring his first goal of the season, paired with two assists. As a top-three assister on the team with 17, the Denver commit will look to continue his recent output against an opponent in Youngstown in which he has two assists against in past games.

Greene has been the Gambler’s offensive catalyst as of late, scoring points in six straight weeks of play. With all but one of his five points scored being goals, the Boston University commit will look to continue his scoring ways. Greene also has a good history against Youngstown, bagging four goals against the Phantoms in previous contests.

Look for these two to continue their streaks of good play.

The Phantoms have a 20-16-5-3 record and are currently fifth in the USHL Eastern Conference with 48 points. Some players to watch for include Adam Ingram and Charlie Lurie.

Ingram has been the clear-cut top option for the Phantoms offensively this season. The rookie forward has 46 points for Youngstown and is at the 20-goal mark on the season. Although his production has seen a slight dip in the last two weeks, he’s been a thorn in the side for the Gamblers all season, tallying five goals and three assists in games played against them.

Lurie joined the Phantoms in a midseason trade and has given them a boost with his production. In 16 games, he’s given Youngstown 15 points on six goals and nine assists. In only two games against the Gamblers, Lurie has tallied three assists, which were both contests the Phantoms won.

Look for Green Bay to prioritize shutting these two down offensively.

Puck drop is at 6:05 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 3:05 PM on Sunday. You watch these contests live at www.hockeytv.com.
