The Green Bay Gamblers won both of their games this past weekend against USHL Eastern Division foes Cedar Rapids and Madison. After a 2-1 shootout win in Cedar Rapids on Friday the Gamblers returned home, putting up a season-high eight goals in an 8-1 win over the Capitols. With the two wins the Gamblers improved to 10-10-3 on the sason.
Evan Fear made 26 saves and stopped two of three shooters in the shootout, to backstop the Gamblers to a 2-1 win over Cedar Rapids on Friday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After a scoreless first two periods, Nicholas Zabenah put the Gamblers on top at the 11:30 mark of the third. Cedar Rapids tied the game 27 seconds later. Noah Ganske and Dylan Wendt scored in the shootout for Green Bay. For Ganske it was his fourth goal in his last four games.
A season-high crowd of 5,221 were on hand at the Resch Center Saturday to see the Gamblers defeat in-state rival, Madison 8-1. Austin Heidemann and Gleb Murtazin each tallied a pair of goals. Paul Maust, Kyler Grundy, Dylan Wendt and Nick Leitner also scored. Tyler Spott and Braden Costello each notched a pair of assists. Jake Begley got the win in net with a 33-save effort.
Green Bay heads to Sioux Falls, South Dakota this weekend for a pair of games against the Stampede. Both games televised at the Drift Inn (1535 N. Ashland Ave. DePere). Start time for both games is 7:05 PM
