Today the USHL announced Gamblers goaltender Evan Fear has been named USHL Goaltender of the Week.
In his only start of the weekend, a 3-2 Green Bay win over Cedar Rapids in a shootout, Fear made 26 saves on 27 shots through 65 minutes, as well as two of three RoughRiders attempts in the shootout. With the win, the Quinnipiac University commit moved over the .500 mark on the season to 7-6-2-0. He also boosted his SV% up to .904, which is good for eighth among all USHL goaltenders. He has also faced the eighth most shots in the USHL (478), including eight times where he faced 30 or more shots. This is Fear’s second weekly award of the season, as he was also named USHL Goaltender of the Week on Nov. 22. 2018-19 marks Fear second season playing in the USHL, as he suited up for 14 games with the Dubuque Fighting Saints during the 2016-17 campaign. A Winnetka, IL native, Fear spent time with the Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL) and Chicago Mission (HPHL). He was taken in the fourth round, 57th overall by the Gamblers in the 2018 USHL Phase II Draft.
