Gamblers Sweep the Weekend

This past weekend the Gamblers went to Sioux Falls for a two-game series with the Stampede.  Green Bay would win both games with scores of 6-3 on Saturday and 8-1 on Sunday.  Everyone chipped in as the Gamblers had 13 different goal scorers.

On Saturday, the Stampede would get the game going with a goal about 9 minutes into the game.  A little over three minutes later and the Stampede would add another one.  Green Bay got back on track thanks to a goal from Noah Ganske at the 16:25 minute mark.  But 20 seconds later and Sioux Falls would go back up by two.  15 seconds later Chad Hillebrand would once again bring the Gamblers back in within one to end the period.

At the start of the second period, Mason Lohrei would tie the game up scoring just 46 seconds into the period.  After a fast start to the second, neither team would be able to find the back of the net again until Alex Servagno gave the Gamblers the lead with a little over 5 minutes left in the period.

With a 4-3 lead heading into the final period the Gamblers were looking to put the game away and that is exactly what they did by scoring two more in the third.  Alex Servagno secured his second goal of the day and Camden Thiesing would end the game with an empty-net goal.  Gavin Enright was in net and would save 30 of the 33 shots that he faced on the night.

On Sunday the Gamblers went out looking for the sweep of their only regular-season match-up of Sioux Falls.  Jake Schmaltz would get things started for the Gamblers with his third goal of the year.  The Gamblers would have no plans of slowing down by adding two more goals by the end of the period from Nicholas Zabaneh (3) and Ryan O’Reilly (5).

The second period was more the same.  Just 52 seconds into the period from McKade Webster (4) would extend the lead.  Jesse Tucker (10) and Tyler Paquette(5) would each score to before the end of the second period.

With a 6-0 lead heading into the final period, Tyler Coffey would score quickly for Sioux Falls.  However, it was too little too late and would be the only goal for the Stampede.  The Gamblers would answer yet again as Braidan Simmons-Fischer and Jackson Kunz each recorded their first USHL goals.  The Gamblers would win 8-1 with Grabko in net saving 21 of the 22 shots that he faced.

Overall on the weekend the Gamblers scored 14 goals from 13 different players, the netminders stopped 92.7% of the shots faced and the team was a combined +44 on the weekend!

The Gamblers are back at the Resch on November 22nd when they will take on Cedar Rapids at 7:05 pm.  Tickets are available at https://www.gamblershockey.com/tickets.
