The Green Bay Gamblers (22-28-3-1) lost their first matchup of the weekend against Team USA (23-24-4-1) in a 3-2 overtime loss Friday night at the Resch Center.
The first period was an even affair. After a goal from recently added affiliate Danny Nelson (1) in his first USHL game, Team USA would tie it late in the period, making it 1-1 heading into the second. The next period would follow a similar formula. This time it was Alex Servagno (15) scoring for the Gamblers, but once again Team USA responded, and the game was once again tied 2-2 with one period to play. In the third, neither team could find the net, sending the contest into overtime. With just over a minute off the clock, Team USA would find the net, beating the Gamblers in a 3-2 overtime loss.
The Gamblers received one goal each from Danny Nelson and Alex Servagno. Nelson’s goal was assisted by John Driscoll (16) and Servagno scored unassisted. Defensively, goalie Aaron Randazzo played all 61 minutes, saving 24 of 27 shots, allowing three goals.
Green Bay and Team USA will once again play each other tomorrow, April 2, at the Resch Center.
