Gamblers Fall in Home Opener

The Green Bay Gamblers (1-2) fell to the Dubuque Fighting Saints (2-1) 7-1 in Green Bay’s home opener at the Resch Center. The Gamblers started the scoring with their first and only goal coming from first-year forward Nicholas Van Tassel (1) seven minutes into the game. The ice was then showered with teddy bears, as the Gamblers hosted their 2021 redo Teddy Bear Toss.

Dubuque was quick to answer, scoring thirty seconds after Green Bay’s goal. It was all Fighting Saints from there.  Dubuque would score 7 unanswered goals and finish off the Gamblers 7-1.

For Green Bay, Nicholas Van Tassel was the one and only scorer, which came unassisted. Defensively, Aaron Randazzo was in goal all 60 minutes, saving 27 of 34 shots, allowing seven goals.

The Gamblers return home next weekend, October 8th, hosting the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders.

The Fighting Saints will play Green Bay again at the Mystique Ice Center in Dubuque, October 9th.
