The Green Bay Gamblers (13-13-0-1) split the weekend series with the Chicago Steel (20-5-6) after an overtime win Saturday at the Resch Center.
After an initial Chicago score, the Gamblers would fire back with a flurry of goals, making it 3-1 at the end of the first period. The second frame would prove to be a back-and-forth affair with both teams scoring twice, including goals from Owen Murray (2) and Ryan Greene (8) as it was 5-3 heading into the third period. After two Chicago goals, the game would be sent into overtime tied at 5. Just over two minutes in, Jarod Crespo (4) scored the game winner, giving the Gamblers a 6-5 win.
Green Bay received a balanced scoring effort with 1 goal each coming from Jackson Hallum (15), Cameron Lund (10), Brody Lamb (9), Owen Murray, Ryan Greene, and Jarod Crespo. Playmaking was even for the Gamblers as well. Aside from Kent Anderson (10) and his 3-assist night, there was 1 assist each from Hallum (18), Greene (13), Crespo (13), Damien Carfagna (27), Matt Deboer (8), and Sawyer Scholl (7). In net, backup goalie Beau Buckley had a game time of 62:13, saving 31 of 36 shots, allowing 5 goals.
Green Bay will play Team USA (8-13-3) Friday, January 14, at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.
Chicago will play the Youngstown Phantoms (12-11-2-3) in Chicago Saturday, January 15, at Fox Valley Ice Arena.
