The Green Bay Gamblers (12-13-0-1) dropped the first game in a weekend series with the Chicago Steel (20-5-5) after a 5-3 loss Friday night at the Resch Center. Chicago started the first period strong, securing a 2-0 lead heading into the second. The Gamblers would show life with a 2-goal second period after scores from Matt Deboer (7) and Brody Lamb (8). Chicago would also score twice in the period, making it a 4-2 contest with 20 to play. Although a Nicholas VanTassell (7) score brought the Gamblers within one, the Steel would once again score, leading to a 5-3 loss for the Gamblers.
The Gamblers received 1 goal each from Matt Deboer, Brody Lamb, and Nicholas VanTassell. For playmaking, Jackson Hallum (17) would assist on Deboer’s goal, Cameron Lund (9) assisted Lamb, and Luke Weilandt (5) helped VanTassell with his score. Defensively, Aaron Randazzo played 20 minutes, saving 5 of 7 shots, allowing 2 goals. Beau Buckley would replace him with a game time of 38:42, saving 16 of 19 shots, allowing 3 goals.
Green Bay and Chicago will once again play each other tomorrow, January 8, at the Resch Center.
