The Green Bay Gamblers continued their winning ways on Saturday with a 3-1 win over the Madison Capitols at the Cap Ice Center. Green Bay is 3-0-2 in their last five games. Overall, the Gamblers sit in 4th place in the USHL Eastern Division with a mark of 7-6-3.
In the victory over Madison, goaltender Jake Begley was the star turning aside 37 shots. Forward Noah Prokop gave the Gamblers a 1-0 lead midway through the first (10:47). Madison tied the game less than a minute later (11:41). Rookie forward Kyler Grundy gave the Gamblers a 2-1 lead late in the 2nd period (17:04) and team leading scorer Gleb Murtazin upped the lead to 3-1 early in the third (1:54). Begley made 15 of his 37 saves in the final period.
Green Bay, who have played 12 of their first 16 games away from the Resch Center, return home on November 21. Start time versus Central Illinois is 7:05 PM.
