The partnership between the Green Bay Gamblers and the American Heart Association continued this past Saturday. Through ticket sales and the 50/50 raffle the game raised $5,347 for the American Heart Association.
Saturday marked the 7th year of the American Heart Association game. Since the game’s inception, North Shore Bank has served as the Presenting sponsor. Supporting partners include; Grazies, Shopko, The Fan, WAPL, WIXX, WNCY, WZOR, Fox 11 and WFRV.
Any student who raised $5 or more through the Jump Rope for Heart Campaign received a complimentary ticket. Multiple students collected over $1,000 and were recognized at the game. Teachers and volunteers also did their part as the following schools combined to raise nearly $111,000; Winneconne Elementary ($28,556), Sunrise Elementary ($21,681), Denmark Elementary ($21,375), Meadowbrook Elementary ($21,228) and Hemlock Creek ($18,064).
Game was one of the largest attended of the season, drawing 5,150.
“Every 43 seconds in this country someone dies from heart disease, stroke or another cardiovascular disease,” says Gamblers Director of Business Jeff Mitchell. “That is unacceptable and by providing funds and a public forum to bring the seriousness and prevention of heart disease to light, the Gamblers hope to play a small role in changing that statistic. Thank you to the students, teachers, sponsors, fans and especially the efforts of Korren Jewitt of the American Heart Association for making this game so special.”
Additional funds for the American Heart Association will be collected this Tuesday (3/20) as the Gamblers will be hosting a Celebrity Waiter Dinner at Grazies in Green Bay from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. All tips collected by the players, who will be serving as the waiters, are donated to the American Heart Association. Grazies is located at 2851 South Oneida Street. All ages are welcome to attend.
