The Green Bay Gamblers defeated the Indiana Ice 7-4 on Friday night at the Resch Center. The win improved the Gamblers record to 10-9-3 on the 2012-13 campaign.
The Gamblers power play provided most of the offense, going 4-for-6 with the man advantage. Three of the four power play goals came in the third period when Indiana defenseman Rinat Valiev received a 5 minute major for fighting.
Trailing 1-0 in the opening period, Michigan recruit Alex Kile tallied his 9th of the season to even the score.
Green Bay grabbed their first lead of the hockey game at the 4:57 mark of the 2nd period when forward Ryan Siroky won an offensive zone face of back to linemate Sebastian Weberg, whose wrister from the top of the cirlce beat Indiana goaltener Dalton Izyk
Indiana responded with two goals to take a 3-2 lead into the third period.
Green Bay erupted for five goals in the third period. The offensive onslaught started on a Sheldon Dries goal at the 2:02 mark. The Gamblers power play then took over, as Jordan Gross (6:06), Nick Schmaltz (7:10) and Nick Schilkey (9:40) all tallied goals on the 5-minute major assesed to the Ice defenseman Valiev.
Kevin Irwin rounded out the scoring with an empty net goal at the 19:06 mark.
Goaltender Mike Rotolo, who assisted on the Irwin empty netter, made 22 saves for his 8th win of the season.

Due to Batman Live at the Resch Center, the Red Line Report scheduled for Tuesday, November 27th featuring Derek Lalonde and Jason Habeck at Anduzzi’s Sports Club will be moved to Tuesday, December 4th at 7pm.
The Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League acquired goaltender Tony Kujava from the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canadian Hockey League. Details of the trade were not disclosed.
Kujava spent the first part of the 2012-13 season with the Carleton Place Canadians of the CCHL. The Green Bay, Wisconsin native appeared in 14 games posting a 2.99 goals against average and .887 save percentage. Prior to his time in Carleton Place, Kujava played for the Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League. In two seasons with the Jets, Kujava appeared in 63 games posting 1.81 goals against average and a .931 save percentage.
The Gamblers are home this weekend as they take on the Indiana Ice at the Resch Center. Saturday, November 30th is the team’s annual Pair and a Spare game and Saturday, December 1st is a Festival Foods Family Night. Face-off for both games is set for 7:05pm. The Gamblers are currently 9-9-3 in the Eastern Conference.
The Red Line Report with Head Coach Derek Lalonde is set for tomorrow night beginning at 7:00 PM at Anduzzi’s Sports Club. Lalonde and the “Voice” of Gamblers hockey Jason Habeck will discuss the team’s month. Joining Jason and Derek are guest forwards Alex Kile and Kyle Novak.
While at Anduzzi’s fans can enjoy 30 cent wings and those 21 and over can enjoy double bubble prices for beer and rail drinks.
The Gamblers are back at home this weekend with a pair of games. Friday, November 30th promotion is A Pair and a Spare and Saturday, December 1st is a Festival Foods Family Night.
