Gamblers drop second consecutive game

The Cedar Rapids Rough Riders defeated the Green Bay Gamblers 4-1 Saturday night at the Resch Center. Cedar Rapids Defenseman Gavin Bayreuther scored a pair of goals to give the Rough Riders the win.

Alex Kile scored at the 18:46 mark to even the score at 1-1 for the Gamblers heading into the second period by an assist from Kyle Novak. The Michigan recruit scored his 2nd goal in the first two games of the regular season.

Goalie Michael Rotolo made his first start of the regular season at net coming off a suspension. The St. Lawrence recruit recorded the loss with 25 saves on 29 shots.

Gamblers fall in home opener

The Waterloo Black Hawks defeated the defending Clark and Anderson Cup Champions, Green Bay Gamblers, in a close contest of 4-3 in a rematch of last season’s final series Friday at the Resch Center on opening night. Vince Hinostroza scored a pair of goals in the third period to give the Black Hawks the victory.

Alex Kile scored the first goal for the Gamblers in the first period to even the score at 1-1 with a centering pass from Sheldon Dries. The Michigan recruit scored the 1st goal of the regular season for the Gamblers.

Kyle Novak scored the Gamblers first powerplay goal of the season in the second period to tie the game at 2-2. The forward is entering his third year as a Gambler and scored his 1st goal opening night.

Grigory Dikushin scored his first goal from a back door goal to give his team a one goal lead heading into the third period from a pass by Nick Schmaltz.

Goalie Richard Sabol started his first game at net in the USHL. The netminder recorded the loss with 34 saves on 38 shots.

Celebrity waiter dinner tomorrow night at Grazies

The Green Bay Gamblers players, coaches and staff will be serving as waiters and bartenders on Thursday, September 27th from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at Grazies Italian Grill to raise money for the local area youth hockey programs.

The players will serve as the waiters and the coaches and staff will be the bartenders.  All tips collected will be donated to the local area youth hockey programs.

Grazies Italian Grill is located at2851 S. Oneida Street inGreen Bay.

Media day for the Gamblers

The Gamblers held their annual media day at the Resch Center this past Tuesday.  Head coach and general manager Derek Lalonde along with veteran players Sheldon Dries, Nicholas Schilkey, Mike Rotolo and Brandon Kirk were all available for the media.

The Gamblers kick-off the regular season this weekend at the Resch Center.  Friday, September 28th the Gamblers play the Waterloo Blackhawks in a rematch of the 2012 Clark Cup Finals. Promotions include: Banner Raising Ceremony, Lamers Magnetic Schedule Giveaway and Post-game Full Team Autographs.

On Saturday, September 29th the Gamblers host the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Promotions include: Festival Foods Family Night, Pre-Game Party with live music from the band Whisky Ditch, and the 2nd Annual Golrusk/Invisible Fence Wiener Dog Races.

Face-offs for both contests are scheduled for 7:05pm. For information on purchasing tickets visit
