Gamblers Chicago Line Remains Unstoppable

The Green Bay Gamblers defeated the Youngstown Phantoms 5-2 Saturday night at the Resch Center. With the teams 44th victory the 2011-12 team is one win away from tying a franchise record of 45 wins set by the 2009-10 season.

The Gamblers Chicago line once again came up big for the Gamblers with each of the three players scoring goals and scoring 25 goals in the last 14 games.

Sam Herr scored a couple of goals for the Gamblers scoring in the first and third periods. Herr has scored 4 goals in the last 3 games and now has 27 goals on the season.

Scoring second for the Gamblers in the first period was team leading scorer Nolan LaPorte. The Western Michigan recruit scored his 32nd goal of the season.

Alex Broadhurst scored in the second period to put the Gamblers up 4-1. The University of Nebraska-Omaha recruit scored his 25th goal this season.

Also scoring for the Gamblers was Alex Kile who earned his 16th goal.

Goalie Ryan McKay recorded the win in between the pipes with 17 saves on 19 shots. McKay now has a record of 24-4-3.

Gamblers Roll At Home

The Green Bay Gamblers defeated the Youngstown Phantoms 4-1 Friday night at the Resch Center. The Anderson Cup Champions improve to a record of 43-8-3.

The Gamblers Chicago line has been impressive scoring 21 goals in the last 13 games. The Chicago line scored 2 goals in the match up from Sam Herr and Alex Broadhurst. Sam Herr scored and broke the tie giving the Gamblers a 2-1 lead. The Notre Dame recruit scored his 25 goal of trhe season. Alex Broadhurst increased the lead to 3-1 scoring his 24th goal of the season.

Sheldon Dries scored first for the Gamblers on a 2 on 1 breakaway giving the Gamblers a 1-0 lead in the first period. The Western Michigan recruit now has 16 goals on the season.

Goalie Ryan McKay clinched the win with 22 saves on 23 shots. The Miami of Ohio recruit now has a record of 23-4-3.

Also, scoring for the Gamblers was Nicholas Schilkey scoring in the last the goal of the game. Schilkey now has 14 goals.

The Gamblers currently holds a 42-8-3 record (87 points) with seven games remaining.  Finishing with the most points in the regular season also guarantees home-ice advantage for the Gamblers throughout the Clark Cup Playoffs.

It is the third time in the past four years that the Gamblers have captured the Anderson Cup and the fifth time in team history they have earned the regular season title.
