Gamblers Weekend Preview (11/18) & (11/19)

The Green Bay Gamblers will play a set of away games against the Madison Capitols on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19.  This series will see the second and third matchups of the year against the Capitols. The first game was on October 7th, ending with a 4-3 overtime loss. The Gamblers are third in the conference while Madison sits at the bottom, one point away from the seventh spot behind the Youngstown Phantoms.

The Gamblers hold a 7-5-1 record and are currently third in the USHL Eastern Conference with 15 points. Some players to watch for include Hagen Moe and Jayden Davis. Newest member to the team, Moe comes to Green Bay from the Lincoln Stars. The forward has one goal and two assists on the year. Moe joins the team with a chip on his shoulder and will instantly become one of the best bruisers on the Gamblers. The Bowling Green State commit also added an assist in his first game with the team. Hopefully this is a sign to come as the season progresses. Another first-year Gambler, Davis comes to Green Bay from the Spruce Grove Saints. His brother Matt played in net for the Gamblers during the 2020-21 season. So far, the Notre Dame commit sits at tenth on the team in points with two goals and two assists. Davis was one of three scorers in Saturday’s challenge in Muskegon during the third period. Hopefully, this is a sign of what’s to come for Davis in the rest of the season.

The Madison Capitols have a 5-6 record and are currently eighth in the USHL Eastern Conference with 11 points. Some players to watch for include Miko Matikka and Quinn Finley. Matikka comes to the states for his first year in the USHL all the way from Finland. So far, he’s been everything the Capitols could’ve hoped for. The Arizona Coyote draftee is fifth in league points with seven goals and 11 assists this season. He’s only failed to score points in his last game against the Chicago Steel. Watch out for him to produce against Green Bay, like he did in the first matchup with a goal to his name. Finley isn’t far behind him, sitting at eight in league points with 16 on seven goals and nine assists. The Suamico native has had the hot stick for Madison as of late, scoring 10 points in his last six games. Similar to Matikka, the Wisconsin commit also had success against Green Bay, scoring a goal and assist in the October matchup. Watch for two of the top scorers in the league to continue their fine seasons.

Puck drop is at 7:05PM on both Friday and Saturday this weekend, at the Bob Suter Capitol Ice in Madison. You can watch live on FloSports at www.flohockey.tv
