The Green Bay Gamblers (22-33-3-1) lost their first matchup of the weekend with the Dubuque Fighting Saints (38-16-2-3) in an 9-4 contest.
The first period saw fireworks from both sides. After an early Dubuque score, the Gamblers would trade two goals each with the Fighting Saints, including scores from Brody Lamb (19) and Peter Kramer (5) to make it 3-2 Dubuque heading into the next period. In the second, the Fighting Saints put the pressure on with a flurry of scores. Even with a Luke Weilandt (7) goal, the Gamblers still trailed 8-3 heading into the final period. After one more goal for each team in the third, Dubuque would defeat the Gamblers in a 9-4 loss.
Offensively, Peter Kramer (6) led the way with two goals while the Gamblers received one goal each from Brody Lamb and Luke Weilandt. Playmaking for the Gamblers came from Weilandt (8), Kent Anderson (23), Cameron Lund (24), Jarod Crespo (20), and Leyton Stenman (4). In net, goalie Cam Smith played all 60 minutes, saving 36 of 45 shots, allowing 9 goals.
Green Bay and Dubuque will once again play each other tomorrow, April 16, in Dubuque at the Mystique Ice Center.
