Ashton Dahms, Gambler affiliate and forward for Lakeville South High School, led the Cougars to the Minnesota Class 1AA Section Championship in a 4-1 win over Lakeville North.
Throughout the section tournament, the high school junior showed his worth to Lakeville South. Through the three games the Cougars played, he led the team in scoring with eight points on five goals and three assists, including a semifinal hat trick against Rochester Mayo. This led Lakeville South to dominate the competition, winning by margins of eight, six, and three goals in the three games played.
Dahms was also a featured player for the Cougars all season, scoring a third-best 42 points on a team-best 26 goals with 16 assists to pair. Although Lakeville South would fall in the first round of the AA State Championship, this was their fourth straight section championship, along with winning five of the last six.
The Lakeville native was drafted by the Gamblers in the 2021 USHL Entry Draft. He was drafted in the sixth round with the #84 overall pick.
