Gamblers closeout 2020 with an OT thriller. Green Bay started hot again, with quick goals from Boston Bruins draft picks Mason Lohrei (7) and Jake Schmaltz (8). Veteran forward Cam Thiesing also added his 4th goal of the season. A couple of Team USA goals lead to 3-2 Gamblers lead at the end of the first.
Team USA would bounce back in the 2nd and take a brief 4-3 lead. Schmaltz (9) would light the lamp yet again and tie it up at 4 after two periods.
After a pretty uneventful third lead to overtime. After 4 minutes and 59 seconds of scoreless overtime hockey, the Gamblers would fine some last-second magic. USHL’s top defenseman Mason Lohrei would come up with yet another game-winner at the buzzer. The Gamblers finished 2020 with a home record of 7-0-1.
