On Tuesday the Green Bay Gamblers finalized their roster. A pair of trades highlighted cutdown day, as the Gamblers moved veteran defenseman Chase Pilawski to Lincoln and defenseman Josh Phillips to Sioux Falls. Gamblers received undisclosed draft picks in return.
Goaltender Josh Langford was added to the team’s Affiliate list and moved to New Mexico of the North American Hockey League. Veteran forward Gleb Murtazin was put on Injured Reserve. Murtazin is expected to return in late-October.
Roster is highlighted by 15 players who have appeared in 40 or more USHL games. List includes; Kyler Grundy, Chad Hillebrand, Gleb Murtazin, Luke Mylymok, Ryan O’Reilly, Tyler Paquette, Benito Posa, Jake Schmaltz, Jesse Tucker, Mckade Webster, Dylan Wendt, Nicholas Zabaneh, defensemen, Xan Gurney, Noah Ganske and Chris Giroday.
Together the 15 USHL veterans combined for 113 goals and 164 assists last season.
Other players highlighting the roster include 2019 Entry Draft 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks defenseman Nicolas Petruolo, goaltender Gavin Enright and defenseman Brady Ziemer.
Also hoping to make an impact are defensemen Mason Lohrei and Dylan Moulton and forward Camden Theising, all of whom saw action last season with the Gamblers.
USHL rookies on the roster include forwards Alex Servagno, Braiden Simmons-Fischer, Dalton Wright and goaltender Nicolas Grabko.
“Training camp was extremely competitive” says Gamblers Head Coach/General Manager Pat Mikesch. “We have an experienced group who have had success in this league. Experience is key not only on the ice, but also in dealing with the grind that is the day-to-day of the USHL.”
The 26th season of Gamblers hockey in the USHL starts this weekend, as the team heads to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to compete in the league-wide Fall Classic. Gamblers return home on Friday, October 4 for the home opener at the Resch Center (7:05 PM).
