The Green Bay Gamblers split their two-game homestand with the Central Illinois Flying Aces this past Saturday and Sunday. After falling to the Flying Ace 3-2 on Saturday, they avenged the loss the following afternoon with a 4-0 victory. With 14 games remaining in the regular season the Gamblers sit 10 points out of the 6th and final Clark Cup Playoff spot in the USHL Eastern Division.
Tate Singleton scored the game winner at the 14:13 mark of the third period to propel Central Illinois to a 3-2 victory on Saturday at the Resch Center. Jesse Tucker was the offensive catalyst for the Gamblers contributing a goal and an assist. Newly acquired Ryan O’Reilly had the other goal for Green Bay. Goaltender Maksim Zhukov made 37-saves in the loss. Mitchell Gibson stopped 41 shots for Central Illinois.
Maksim Zhukov recorded a shutout, turning aside 32 shots, to backstop Green Bay to a 4-0 win over Central Illinois on Sunday afternoon at the Resch Center. Branden Costello, Kyler Grundy, Tyler Spott and Xan Gurney all found the back of the net for Green Bay.
Green Bay hits the road for the next two weeks with stops in Youngstown, Ohio (3/9 & 3/10) and Fraser, Michigan where they’ll take on Team USA (3/15 & 3/16). Green Bay returns to the Resch Center on Tuesday, March 19, which starts a 9-game homestand.
