The Green Bay Gamblers have hired Green Bay native Chris Nell to serve as the team’s Goalie Coordinator and Assistant Coach. Nell will work with the Gambler goaltenders, including 2023 Chicago Blackhawks 2nd round pick Adam Gajan.
After a successful playing career, Nell began his coaching career last year, splitting time between Marian University and local Notre Dame Academy.
After a stellar playing career at Notre Dame Academy, Nell played two years in the USHL for the Chicago Steel (2012-14), before moving onto Bowling Green State University (2014-17). Nell signed with the New York Rangers in the spring of 2017, appearing in a handful of games for the Rangers American Hockey League affiliate, Hartford Wolf Pack, over the next three seasons. Nell spent most of his professional career in the ECHL, appearing in 110 games from 2017-2022.
“Chris will be a huge addition to our staff,” said Gamblers Head Coach/General Manager Mike Leone. “Chris signed an NHL contract out of college and has great experience in the game. He will work with our goalies but also help with our scouting staff.”
The 2023-2024 campaign marks the 30th year of Gamblers hockey in the United States Hockey League. Stay tuned to the Gamblers social media platforms for the latest team news
