The Green Bay Gamblers (4-3) made a statement in a 2-1 overtime win against the Chicago Steel (6-0-3) Friday night at the Resch Center. The first period was a battle of defenses, with neither team finding the net. Jackson Hallum (9) would change that midway through the second period on a power play, giving the Gamblers a 1-0 advantage. Chicago would strike back moments later on a power play of their own, making it a 1-1 game heading into the third. The third period would mirror the first, with both defenses holding stout, sending the game to overtime. Once again, Hallum would play hero, scoring on a rebound with just under a minute taken off the clock, giving the Gamblers a 2-1 win.
Hallum was key for the Gamblers offensively, scoring 2 goals increasing his lead in USHL scoring. Damien Carfagna (8) once again showed off his playmaking for the team, assisting on both of Hallum’s goals, putting him at fourth-most in the league. In net, Aaron Randazzo played the entire 60:57, saving 31 of 32 shots faced in the win.
Green Bay will play the Madison Capitols (6-1-1) in Madison Friday, October 29, at Bob Suter Capitol Ice.
Chicago will play the Dubuque Fighting Saints (4-0-2-1) in Chicago Saturday, October 30, at the Fox Valley Ice Arena.
