For a second straight game, Mason Lohrei notched the game winner as the Green Bay Gamblers completed their two-game weekend sweep over the Youngstown Phantoms at the Resch Center. Lorhei’s game winner came at the 16:43 mark of the third period. With the win, the Gamblers improved to 3-0-0 on the regular season.
Trailing 2-0, the Gamblers got on the board at the 7:29 mark of the 1st period, on Kyler Grundy’s first goal of the campaign. Green Bay tied the game when Ryan Greene scored on a partial breakaway (14:58). Youngstown regained the lead with 1-second remaining in the 1st period.
Jake Schmaltz and Jackson Kunz scored goals in the 2nd period, 1-minute and 17-seconds apart (4:10 & 5:27) to give the Gamblers their first lead of the hockey game. Youngstown answered with a power play goal (13:52).
On the game winner, Jesse Tucker won an offensive zone faceoff back to Lohrei, who from the left point fired the puck into the top corner past Youngstown goaltender Mattias Sholl.
Gamblers goaltender Matt Davis improved to 3-0-0 on the season with 18 saves. Sholl finished the game with 27 saves.
