Gamblers Select 17 in USHL Entry Draft

(Green Bay, WI) – On Tuesday, the Green Bay Gamblers selected 17 players in the 2020 USHL Entry Draft. Draft selections included local talents Sawyer Scholl (Medford, WI) and Brayden Stannard (Escanaba, MI). Both played their youth hockey with the Green Bay Jr. Gamblers. This past year Scholl was a forward at Notre Dame Academy. Stannard starred at Escanaba High School before moving on to play midget hockey in downstate Michigan and junior’s in Maryland.

Geographically, the Gamblers selected six Canadians, two Slovakians, one from the Czech Republic and eight Americans. The picks are as follows:

The Gamblers also traded defenseman John Prokop to the Des Moines Buccaneers in exchange for a 2nd round pick in the 2021 Entry Draft. Prokop appeared in 30 games last season with the Gamblers, recording a goal and six assists.

All returners, Futures and Entry draft selections, along with free agents will take part in the Gamblers Summer tryout camp. Camp takes place August 2-6 at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
